Judith E. Conway

Judith E. Coway, 86, of Albany, passed peacefully away Thursday at Albany Medical Hospital.
Born and raised in Syracuse, she was a 1958 graduate of East Syracuse High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the State University of New York at Albany. After college, she briefly taught at East Syracuse High School before accepting a position at SUNY Potsdam as a resident hall director, working there for 12 years. Judy then returned to the Albany area where she dedicated 20 years as an administrative assistant and executive assistant with the law firm of Coppola, Ryan & McHugh. She retired in 1999.

Judy was predeceased by her parents, Thomas & Eleanor Conway; and sister, Barbara Scheaffer.

Surviving are her sisters, Eileen Conway of Spring Valley, CA, and Kristine (Daniel) McGuire of Syracuse; brother, Tom (Cathy) of Brighton, CO; brother-in-law, Norm Scheaffer of Loveland, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

Judy loved to entertain and to decorate her home with seasonal décor. Her door was always open to friends and neighbors and to a few stray cats. At one time, Judy cared for five cats and loved each one. Embroidery was a major hobby for her, and she loved sharing the beautiful creations she made with family and friends.

Judy lived with a caring community of neighbors for over 30 years. Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her neighbors and close friends, Mary Matacchiero and Linda and Tom Andersen, along with a dear friend and co-worker from the law firm, Tracy Conover-Beck.

Arrangements are made with Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Albany. There will be no services in Albany.

Graveside services will take place at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Minoa, NY. In memory of Judy, contributions may be made to Orange Street Cats, PO Box 10733, Albany, NY 12201. Condolences can be posted at danielkeenanfuneralhome.com.
