Katherine M. Murnane

Albany—Katherine Mary (nee Kelly) Murnane, 88, of Albany, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023.  Born in Schenectady in 1935, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Kelly and Marie Madden; wife of the late Dennis P. Murnane of Albany; sister of Doris McKibbin, Rhinebeck, NY and Thomas Kelly, Old Lyme, CT; mother of Dennis Murnane (deceased), Patty (Murnane) King, Mary Murnane, Brian Murnane, Kelly Murnane, Timothy Murnane and Michael Murnane; and grandmother of Erin Biddle, Michael LaGattuta, Caitlin Oberwager, Christopher LaGattuta, Shannon King, Caitlin Murnane and Aiden Murnane.  She is also survived by five great-grandchildren and 18 nieces & nephews.  Katherine graduated from Nott Terrace High School, Schenectady, in 1952 and the nursing program at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, in 1954.  She and Dennis raised their seven children on an old dairy farm on Meadowdale Road between Altamont and Voorheesville and over the years Katherine worked as a registered nurse at St. Peter’s Hospital, St. Colman’s Home in Watervliet, and Albany Medical Center.  Katherine and Dennis spent their retirement years living in the Miles Grant community of Port Salerno, Florida and their camp on Jenny Lake in the Adirondacks.  There will be a pre-funeral gathering Monday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a 12-noon mass at St. Matthew’s R.C. Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville, NY.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Albany, NY.
