Katherine M. Underwood

LOUDONVILLE- Katherine M. Underwood of Albany died May 14, 2026 after a brief illness on the day before her 88th birthday. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed. She was born in Troy to Thomas F. Brown and Katherine Vaughn Brown. She was a 1956 graduate of Catholic Central High School where she was a cheerleader, and Mildred Elley Secretarial School. She was employed as an executive secretary for the NYS Department of Labor for 36 years. Katherine was an active volunteer at Mater Christi Church, the Catholic Women's Service League, and the St Peter's Hospital Thrift Shop. She was a very social person and greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also loved shopping and was always fashionably dressed.

Katherine was predeceased by her parents, her brother Thomas V Brown, and her beloved husband, William Underwood. She is survived by her sister, Judith Farrell, her sister in law, Toni Brown, her nieces Deirdre Romanski (James), Tara Kenny (Bill), Susan Loomis (Robert), Annette Mooney (Donald), nephews Thomas Brown (Michelle), Patrick Brown (Pam), and Daniel Brown, several grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday May 21, 2026 at 10:30 am in Mater Christi Church 40 Hopewell St. Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with Kathy's family at Mater Christi Church prior to her Mass from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
