ALBANY- John A. “Jack” Keenan, 80, died November 13, 2014 surrounded by his family. Born in Boston, MA to John J. and Dorothy A. (Hullihan) Keenan, he lived in Albany most of his life and graduated from the former St. Ann’s Academy. He attended Siena College and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Keenan retired from a career in banking after 36 years of service. He was past president of the Central Avenue Civic and Merchants Association and was instrumental in founding the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Keenan was also honored to serve as General Chairman of the Albany Tulip Festival 40th Anniversary in 1988. He was Vice President of Public Relations of the Arthritis Foundation and he continued a fulfilling career in public service throughout his life.For over 30 years, he was host of the Old Time Radio Theater heard on WMHT’s RISE network.As a member of the Rotary Club of Albany, he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award for Rotary International and many accolades from community services activities.He was also a communicant of The Parish of Mater Christi.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret M. (Eberle) Keenan; children Michael (Lynn), Teresa, Lawrence (Marianne), Richard, and Mark Keenan, Kelly (Kevin) Aylward, and James (Natalie) Keenan; grandchildren, A. David, Margaret, Jack, Joseph, Catherine Keenan, Conner and Kyle Aylward, Klara and Colin Keenan; his brother Robert (Linda) Keenan; sister Mary Jane (Bill) Sinnott, two cousins, Eileen Robidoue and Charles Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 11:00 am in The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. ,490 Delaware Ave. on Monday, November 17, 2014 from 4-8 pm. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
