DELMAR- Carroll J. “Pat” Kendrick Jr, 91, passed away after a brief illness, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Pat was born in Albany to the late Carroll J. and Helen M. (Stoffels) Kendrick, Sr. He was the husband of Anne (Rablen) Kendrick who shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with him before her passing in 2004. He was educated at Our Lady Help of Christians and Cathedral Academy and was a Communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi.

Pat entered the US Army, December 10, 1942, served in the Infantry in England, Normandy, Northern France, Belgium, and Germany .He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1946. After WWII, he continued to serve in the US National Guard until 1950 attaining the rank of Sergeant.

As a proud member of Local 106 of the International Union of Operating Engineers, he was a crane operator from 1951 until his retirement. One of the best in the trade, he worked on many historical public works projects around the State, including the construction of defense missile silos, the Empire State Plaza complex, and various bridges and highways in the Capital District.He also worked at the Watervleit Arsenal.After his retirement, he taught crane operations part-time at the operating engineer’s training school in Westerlo well into his 70’s.

Pat adored his family and continued to care for and live with his buddy and special son Andrew. He was a generous man with a big heart.

In his younger years, he enjoyed camping, boating, and family trips to Cape Cod.After retirement, he spent summers with his loving wife, Anne at the family camp on Sacandaga Lake, enjoying life to the fullest with all of their camp friends.

Mr. Kendrick was an avid reader of WWII history, he also loved gardening, riding his motorcycle and was a die-hard Mets fan. His children will miss his love, warmth and charming sense of humor.

He is survived by his sister, Joan Deragon of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA,; his children Patrick Kendrick of Delmar, Andrew Kendrick of Delmar, Michael (Kailash) Kendrick of Guilderland, Maureen Teaney of Guilderland, and Carol Ann (Mark) Stuart of Niskayuna. Pat was a proud grandfather to Matthew and Ethan Kendrick, Nicole and Ryan Teaney, and Melissa and Sean Stuart. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; Rick, Kathleen and Pete Deragon of CA, Maureen Stevens and Paula Rainis of Niskayuna, and Jack Rainis of NC.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 8:45 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. thence to the Parish of Mater Christi, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Burial will follow in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Jolley Rd. Glenmont.

Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 4-7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Disability Services, 314 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
