DELMAR- James E. “Jim” Lanahan, 72, died Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital after a short illness surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late Edward and Rose Ann (Leveroni) Lanahan.Jim was a self employed plumber in Delmar and operated Jim’s Home Plumbing for 40 years. He was a Communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Jim was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who was totally devoted to his family.

He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 51 years, Joan (Siino) Lanahan; their children Lori (Brian) Rohan of Delmar and Kathleen (Todd) Shafer of Selkirk; grandchildren Connor and Taylor Rohan, Drew Ackerman and Landon Shafer; siblings Rose Marie (Edward) Cornelius, Linda Lee Zusy (the late Daniel); brothers-in law John (Kathleen) Siino, and Benedict Siino; sisters-in-law Gina (David) Carney and Patricia Lanahan; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Michael Lanahan.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital, especially in ICU and the Hospice Inn, for their excellent care and kindness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Inurnment will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 So. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12202 or to The Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital, 315 So. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
