Larose, Barbara Rose

ALBANY- Barbara R. (Hughes) LaRose, 70, died Friday, February 19, 2016 after a brief illness.Born and educated in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Rose (Matiskella) Hughes.Barbara was very active in the Park South neighborhood, in politics and the neighborhood watch. She retired from JMS Electronics and returned to school at age 65, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.

Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Edward V. LaRose. Survivors include her son E.J. LaRose; her brother Jerry Hughes; EJ’s god-parents Frank and Kathy Horn; several nephews who teasingly referred to her as “Uncle Barb” and many caring neighbors by whom she was known as “Mom, Grandma and Friend.”

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
