Leanne B. Baker

Jul 1, 1953 — Aug 23, 2026

Westbrook

WESTBROOK, ME- Leanne Baker, 73, passed peacefully on August 23, 2026. Born in Albany, NY, she lived in East Greenbush, NY, Bluffton, SC, and Westbrook, ME.

Leanne was kind, honest, thoughtful, and caring. She was an incredible mom, friend, and Nonna, with a gift for making people feel loved. She stayed in touch, remembered birthdays and special days, and genuinely cared about the people in her life. She was patient with others and brought a natural creativity to everything she did.

After 20 years working for the federal government, Leanne became an occupational therapist. She earned an associate degree in Art and Design from RIT, an OTA degree from Maria College, and her OTR from Utica College. She worked in home health with older adults and always went above and beyond to make sure her patients had what they needed.

Her greatest joy was her family. Leanne shared a deep bond with her daughter, Bonnie, whom she often said was the best thing she had ever done. She cherished her grandchildren, Malcolm and Rose, and loved gardening and creating projects with them.

Leanne loved the stars, nature, horses, and swimming. She found joy in life’s simple discoveries—finding a different way to get somewhere, a new favorite tree, or a yummy treat. Her love of horses began in childhood, when she had a horse named Zeus.

A framed saying hung in the home while Bonnie was growing up: “Kindness is the greatest wisdom.” It was a fitting reflection of Leanne, who noticed people, remembered what mattered to them, and made them feel cared for.

Leanne is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Baker; son-in-law, Edward Tragler; grandchildren, Malcolm and Rose Tragler; and brother, Lawrence Brown, and his wife, Beverly Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ann R. Brown and Edward E. Brown.

She was simply the best mom. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family and friends.
