Leisenfelder, Herbert J. Jr.

GLENMONT- Herbert J. Leisenfelder Jr., 89, peacefully entered eternal life on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.

Born in Albany, he was a graduate of St. James Institute, Class of 1941 and Christian Brothers Academy, class of 1945. He served his country as a radio operator and in air traffic control in the Army Air Corps. discharged in 1947. He was employed by Texaco for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was also employed by the US Post Office, retiring in 1990. He was also a Communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and the former St. James Church. He was predeceased by his loving parents Herbert and Catherine (nee Ryder) Leisenfelder. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Agnes Constance (nee Kelly) Leisenfelder; and his loving children Herbert Leisenfelder III (Mayumi) and Noreen Desharnais (John); his cherished grandchildren; Maura, Brendan, Daniel, Sean, Eileen and Kathryn Desharnais and Yusuke and Hinako Leisenfelder.

Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with his family Friday, March 31, 2017 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10:45 a.m. from the funeral home thence to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
