GLENMONT- Samuel P. Lombardo, 94, died Sunday, March 25, 2018. He was born in Albany, son of the late Carl and Jennie (Poggioli) Lombardo and was a graduate of St. John’s Academy. Mr. Lombardo was an Army Veteran of WWII. He worked as an Insurance Agent with John Hancock retiring in 1984 after 36 years of service.
He was a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and a member of the Vanderloo-Miller American Legion Post.
He is survived by his wife, Viola (Packer) Lombardo; children Janis (Rick) Ruid, Sandra Draper, Richard (Mary) Lombardo, Michelle (Mike) Burns, Thomas (Janice) Lombardo, and Linda (Tom Harder) VanWie; his 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, in-laws and his extended family Art Lucarelli and Teresa Tricomi. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean (Lasher) Lombardo; his brother Don V. Lombardo; his sisters, Marie Panella, Teresa Mercuri, Anna Campolungo and Rita Vagnone.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at the Stratton VA Medical Center and at Van Rensselaer Manor for their care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family Friday, March 30 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. 490 Delaware Ave. His Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31 at 9:30 am in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those who wish may send memorial contributions to the Stratton VA Medical Center (memo line Geriatric Care), 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
