MENANDS-Sister Mary Matthew Mahar, D.C. died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at St. Louise House. A native of Troy, born in 1913, Mary Ellen Mahar, the daughter of Margaret and Patrick Mahar, was one of nine children. She grew up with her siblings in Troy. After graduating from Catholic High School, she entered the Daughters of Charity in 1931 and in 2001 celebrated her 70th anniversary as a Daughter of Charity.

Sister Mary Matthew worked most of her life with children. She cared for them in Seton Day Nursery, Cumberland, MD; St. Vincent
