ALBANY-Newton C. Mall, 87, died Saturday, December 19, 2015. Newton was called into heaven by the Angels of God, while surrounded by his loving family. Born March 25, 1928 in Sargodha, Pakistan, Newton was the son of the late Rev. Chehtu Mall and Hashmat Mian. He shared 52 years of marriage and friendship with his wife Rakhel who predeceased him on January 6, 2010.

Newton was educated in Pakistan and after working for several years as a professional, he and his family moved to the United States, settling in Albany. He worked for the NYS Dept. of Tax and Finance in Albany and was a devout member of the Emmaus United Methodist Church.

Newton’s four children, Olive (Joseph Farooq), Ellen (Noel John), Asif C. Mall (Ghazala) and Lubna (Zak Chauhan) were his pride and joy. He enjoyed being surrounded by his grandchildren, Jason, Isaac, Kristen, Nicole, Kenneth, Samantha, Jennifer, Elsa, Caitlin and Rachel; his great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The entire family would like to convey their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Community Hospice staff and Dr. Sean Roche and his exceptional team for the compassionate, professional care received by Newton.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 4 to 6:00 p.m. for friends and family at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany and for family only from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 85 Elm Ave., Delmar, N.Y. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Graceland Cemetery, 680 Delaware Ave., Albany.
