Mantica, Catherine J.

SLINGERLANDS- Catherine J. Mantica, 91, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Eddy Village Green at Beverwyck. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Flaherty) Cox. She graduated from St. James School and the Academy of the Holy Names. Mrs. Mantica was an active volunteer at St. Thomas the Apostle School and with the Center for the Disabled.

Catherine was predeceased by her husband John and their daughter Lisa Portanova; also her brothers Joseph, John, and Robert and her sister Catherine B. Cox, CSJ . She is survived by her daughter Paula Mantica; her grandchildren Gregory, Patricia and John Portanova; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. A prayer service will take place at 6:30 pm. Burial will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 10:00 am in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. A procession will form at the funeral home at 9:15 am.

Those who wish may send memorial donations to their favorite charity. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date in the Parish of Mater Christi.
