DELMAR- It is with profound sadness and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Marcia McGraw of Delmar, NY, who left this world on July 7, 2026 at the age of 90. Born on November 25, 1935 in Troy, NY, Marcia was the daughter of Thomas and Grace Bendon and one of nine children. Her early experiences as a child raised during the Great Depression left her with a deep-rooted sense of community and strong belief in the importance of helping others, a philosophy that defined her entire life. A graduate of Catholic Central High School, Class of 1953, Marcia remained an avid reader and student of history, and also found joy in classical music and traveling. Her favorite trips were those to the Adirondacks and Cape Cod with extended family. To know Marcia was to know what true kindness was. She possessed a rare, generous and compassionate spirit that touched everyone she met. An active volunteer, she particularly enjoyed the many years she helped at the local food pantry as well as her beloved St. John’s St. Ann’s Church. With her unique way of making everyone feel special, valued and loved, Marcia enjoyed many dear friends and kept her door open to anyone who wished to stop by. Always a friend to those in need, she often included those without their own families at her holiday gatherings. You were a fortunate person if you had the privilege of knowing her. Above all, Marcia was a devoted mother. She took immense pride in raising her four children, Deborah, Donna, Dan and Dennis. A tough woman who overcame many hardships in life with remarkable determination and selflessness, Marcia led by example as she taught her children the value of hard work, frugality, empathy and resilience. Her children will always remember a loving childhood of delicious meals, ghost stories, family trips and rainy days where she seemed
to make the sun shine. She made every day special.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Deborah Casey (Tom), Dan McGraw (Kathleen), her adored grandchildren, Lauren Powell (Rick), Jessica Perrott (Mike), Meghan Wilkinson (Curt), Daniel McGraw (Louisa), Rachael McGraw and Keara McGraw, her eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Daniel R. McGraw, her daughter Donna McGraw, her son Dennis McGraw and her dear friend Art Gordon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday July 13, 2026 at 12 noon in St. Francis of Assisi Church 391 Delaware Ave., Albany.
