Margaret M. Rapello

ALBANY- Margaret Mary “Mimi” Rapello, of Albany, NY, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026.
Born on May 14, 1934, in Albany, NY, she was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Carmella (Palmisano) Calderone and sister of late Charles Calderone, late sister-in-law Jean (Morgan) Calderone and late sister Eleanor Calderone.
Mimi devoted many years of faithful service to the Roman Catholic Diocese, contributing her time and talents to St. Joseph’s Church and St. Teresa of Avila Church in Albany. A woman ahead of her time, she was both innovative and industrious, successfully owning and managing a home-based medical supply business.
She shared a loving and devoted marriage of 42 years with her late husband, Ralph Gaspare Rapello. Together, they traveled the world, creating cherished memories while always treasuring time spent with family and friends.
Mimi is survived by her four children: Kenneth Rapello; Michael Rapello; Karen (Rapello) and Pasquale Popolizio; and Paul and Kirsten (Suberg) Rapello. She was a proud and loving grandmother to five grandchildren: Joseph and Renee (Glass) Popolizio; Carly (Rapello) and Bobby Hammond; Sydney Suberg; and John Rapello. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Eleanor, Giuseppe, and Santino Popolizio; Laurel Grace Bernal; and Magnolia Hammond.
Mimi will be remembered for her deep love of family, her cherished Thursday night family dinners, and her unwavering devotion to her faith and church. Her warmth, strength, and enduring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday April 29, 2026 at 10:30 am in Blessed Sacrament Church 607 Central Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited.
