What followed was the beginning of a 50 year career in Respiratory Care at Albany Medical Center, while also providing care at Belleview Women's Hospital on a part-time basis. She had a great passion for her work and soon became an integral part of the department. She was part of the AMC flight transport team .and worked several years in the NICU, followed by supervisory roles, always exhibiting a commitment towards the pursuit of providing the best care possible. At her passing, she was the Cardio-Respiratory Services Supervisor.

Martha was known for her generous nature and being a "cheerleader" for her department. She spearheaded the annual Respiratory Care Week festivities and insisted that the profession be celebrated "with style".
