ALBANY-Clotilda C. (Orsini) McCarthy, 88, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Italy, she came to the United States as a 2 year old. She was a graduate of Albany Public Schools. Mrs. McCarthy was a hairstylist in Albany for over 30 years where she formed many special relationships with coworkers and customers. She enjoyed summers in Lake George with her family and winters in Florida with a favorite group of snowbirds.

She was the wife of 50 years of the late Richard J. McCarthy; mother of Michael (Donna Chillemi) McCarthy, Gregg (Audrey) McCarthy and Maria McCarthy; sister of Orlando (Yvonne) Orsini, Mary (Constantine) Armeniades and the late Ellen Orsini; grandmother of Erica (John) Levendosky, Beth, Christopher and Matthew McCarthy and Liam Owens; great-grandmother of Elena and Patrick Levendosky; sister-in-law of Gertrude (late Eugene) McCarthy and the late Edward and Virginia McCarthy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to St. Peter’s Hospital ER, the Eddy Rehabilitation Center at St. Peter’s and especially Albany Fire EMS (Truck 3, Engine 10) for their exceptional care.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Clotilda’s family on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home thence to Historic St. Mary’s Church. Lodge and Pine Streets, Albany where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
