Mcgarrahan, Sheila Carey

SLINGERLANDS- Sheila (Carey) McGarrahan 82, died Thursday, June 25, 2015. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late William and Evelyn (Halpin) Carey. Sheila was a graduate of Vincentian Institute. She was a devoted wife and mother. After her children where grown she worked as a travel agent at Traveland in Albany for many years. She especially enjoyed planning the annual high school reunion trips as well as cruises and special vacations for family and friends even after she retired as a travel agent.. Sheila was also involved in many social activities and enjoyed playing bridge with her VI friends and with neighborhood groups.

Wife of the late John F. McGarrahan; mother of Michael McGarrahan of Delmar, Ellen McGarrahan of Menands, Susan (David) Gonino of Jacksonville, FL, William McGarrahan of Boston, MA and Brian (Mary Beth) McGarrahan of Saratoga Springs; sister of Joyce C. O’Brien of Menands; sister-in-law of Kathleen (McGarrahan) Greene; grandmother of Nicholas, Katie and Timothy Gonino, Sam and Jack McGarrahan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews from the O'Brien and Greene families and her cousin, Pat Rodd and family.

In recent years, Sheila was a resident of the Eddy Village Green at Beverwyck in Slingerlands where she was loved, respected and received utmost personal and professional care.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 29, 2015 at 8:15 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. thence to the All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead Street, Albany (Behind CVS located Western Ave. and Homestead St. [url=http://www.rcda.org/churches/allsaints/]http://www.rcda.org/churches/allsaints/[/url]), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 3-6 pm. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes, NY. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to Bethlehem Senior Projects Inc., c/o Jane Sanders, Secretary, 445 Delaware Ave., Rm 110, Delmar, NY 12054.
