DUANESBURG- Alice M. McGloine, 66, died peacefully Wednesday, August 6, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Albany, she was daughter of the late John and Rose Alice (Varden) McGloine and granddaughter of the late John and Genevieve McGloine and the late Matthew and Alice Varden.
Alice enthusiastically attended the workshop program at New Visions from 1969 through 2012 where she was awarded numerous “Employee of the Month” certificates. Together with her many friends at New Visions, she was involved with the Eleanor Roosevelt Program, the High Rollers Bowling League and the Special Olympics. She was the proud recipient of many trophies and medals in recognition of her bowling achievements. In addition to bowling, Alice enjoyed miniature golf outings and Lake George cruises during the summer and the ice cream sundaes that followed. Alice loved singing, dancing and partying and was always busy promoting the next event. Most of all Alice loved vacationing at Cape Cod with her family.The seagulls fascinated her and she always gave them a big hello.
Alice is survived by her sister Patricia (Reid) Simonds; nephew John Simonds; her cousins, John (Caron) Goetz and their family Tracy (Tony) Riedlinger and Michael Goetz;Donna (Jay) Webb, Kathy Willis, John (Tee) Willis, Bill (Roberta) Willis, the late Judy (Peter) Ranalli and their families and many friends. For the past three years, Alice resided at the Stowell House (through Schenectady ARC).The staff was an extended family to her. The care they provided was filled with an abundance of love, joy and tenderness. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to them.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11, 2014 at 9:15 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave., Albany thence to the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Alice’s name to Schenectady County ARC, 214 State St., Schenectady, NY 12305 or to Community Hospice of Schenectady County, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308.
