ALBANY- Luella M. McHarg, 89, died Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. Born in St. Lawrence County, NY she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Hanratty) Dowdle. She lived in Albany since 1948. Mrs. McHarg worked for the NY Telephone company for over 14 years, retiring in 1962.
She also was a seasonal employee of Monticello Resort and was also employed by Southern Bell, Dial Cutover in Greenwich, CT where she was recognized for her perfect attendance. Mrs. McHarg later retired from the NYS Department of Real Property Service in 2002 after 19 years of service with the State. Mrs. McHarg attended Russell Sage College, night division and she also attended Mildred Elly Business School. She was a longtime communicant of the former St. Teresa of Avila Church and was a member of the church Rosary Society and choir. Mrs. McHarg was a Eucharistic Minister at Albany Medical Center Hospital for 15 years.
The family would like to thank all of her caregivers by whom she was cherished.
She was wife of the late Kenneth McHarg; sister of Eileen LaGasse of Niskayuna and the late Leo, James and Francis Dowdle and Rita Pryce, she is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 11:00 am in The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell Street, Albany.. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 4-7 pm. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
