MENANDS- Sister Margaret Rose McLaughlin, DC died Friday, October 30, 2015 at the St. Louise House. She was 91 years of age and 70 years vocation as a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul.

Born in Dorchester, Mass., on December 6, 1923, Sister Margaret Rose was one of three children born to Joseph A. and Jane (Martin) McLaughlin.Sister graduated from St. John’s High School in Cambridge, Mass., in 1941 and entered the Daughters of Charity in August of 1945. Sister Margaret Rose earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secretarial Science from St. Joseph College, Emmitsburg, Md., in 1962 and her Master of Arts Degree in Business Education from The Catholic University in Washington, D.C., in 1975. After initial formation, Sister Margaret Rose served at St. John’s School in Albany (1946 – 1957); Our Lady of Lourdes School, Utica, N.Y., (1957 – 1961); St. Martin’s School, Baltimore, Md., (1962 – 1963); Norfolk Catholic High School, Norfolk, Va., (1963 – 1965); Pius X School, Greensboro, N.C., where she served as the Local Community Superior, (1965 -1966); St. Charles School, Baltimore, where she served as the Local Community Superior, (1966 – 1969); St. Catherine Labouré, Harrisburg, Penn., where Sister served as the Local Community Superior, (1969 – 1971); McCloskey High School, Albany, (1971 – 1977); at DePaul Provincial House in Albany where she served as Secretary to the Director, (1977 – 1982); St. Mark’s School in Harlem, N.Y., where Sister served as the Local Community Superior, (1982 – 1994); St. Joseph’s Provincial House, Emmitsburg, Md., where she served as a Docent at the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, (1994 – 1995); DePaul Provincial House, Albany, where Sister served as Secretary and Sacristan, (1995 – 2000); Rosalie Rendu House, Niagara Falls, N.Y., where Sister served as the Local Community Superior (2000 – 2006); and St. Louise House in Albany where Sister entered the Ministry of Prayer in 2006 and continued in this ministry until the time of her death.

Sister Margaret Rose was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.She is survived by her cousin, James McLaughlin of Michigan, her Sisters in Community; and many friends.

A Wake for Sister Margaret Rose McLaughlin, D.C., will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 4- 7 PM, at DePaul Provincial House Chapel 96 Menand Rd., Menands.A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Margaret Rose will be celebrated Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 10:30 AM at DePaul Provincial House Chapel.Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
