It is with deep sadness that the family of Michael McCarthy (“Mac”), 73, of Albany NY, announces his passing on Monday, July 27, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Michael was a lifelong resident of Albany, NY.
Michael was predeceased by his parents Richard and Clotilda McCarthy and survived by his parter of many years Donna Chillemi, his daughters Erica Levendosky (John) and Alisabeth Natali (Anthony), stepsons Sebastian (Claudine) and Tony. He was a beloved Papa to his grandchildren Elena, Patrick, Eamon, and Mazarine and Boo to grandchildren Sebby and Bre. He was a brother and best friend to siblings Gregg (Audrey) and Maria. He was also survived by his loving nephews Christopher, Matthew, and Liam.
Michael graduated from Vincentian Institute of Albany, was a foreman at Adirondack Steel for many years, and was a well-known Albany bartender. He also expressed his entrepreneurial spirit through his co-ownership of the Long Branch with his longtime childhood friend, and Café on the Knoll with his sister.
Michael was an avid golfer, a lifelong Yankees and Giants fan, and someone who took immense pride in being a father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, and friend.
For those who wish to pay their respects, calling hours will be held at Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany, on Friday, August 7th from 4-6pm, followed by a Catholic service at the funeral home.
Michael’s humor and dedication to others will be carried on by those who knew and loved him.
