Mooney, Katherine “Kate”

DELMAR- Katherine “Kate” (Murnane) Mooney, 80, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of Dennis and Mary (Brennan) Murnane and graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names .Mrs. Mooney worked for 20 years in the kitchen at the Bethlehem Middle School and enjoyed spending time with the children. She was an active volunteer at the concession stands with her own children’s football, basketball and soccer events. She was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years John Mooney; their children Kathleen (John) Canizzarro, Patrick (Denni) Michael, Sean (Melissa), Moire (Jim) Stone, Timothy (Heather) and Brian (Tonya).She is the sister of Dennis (Katherine) Murnane of Florida and the late John J. “Gus” Murnane. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center, especially the nurses and aides of D-Wing.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 8:45 a.m. from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany thence to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands..

Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with the family Monday, February 1, 2016 from 4-8 pm in the funeral home..
