Motilage, Bernard A.

WEST SAND LAKE- Bernard A. Motilage, 95, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 after a brief illness. Born and educated in Albany, he was son of the late Ambrose and Helen (Downer) Motilage and graduated from Averill Park High School, class of 1936. Mr. Motilage was a WWII Navy Veteran having served on the USS Ajax. Upon discharge from the Navy, he went on to operate his own excavating and construction business. Mr. Motilage was a longtime communicant of St. Henry’s Church. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also took pleasure in gardening.

He was predeceased by his wife, Irene Motilage, his brother Stanley and sister-in-law Virginia. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Bernice (Kevin) Leyden and his beloved granddaughters, Katherine and Kara Leyden.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 9:30 am in St. Henry’s Church,39 Old Route 66, Averill Park. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. 490 Delaware Ave. Albany on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 4-7 pm. Interment will follow the mass in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
