Mission Viejo, CA- Margaret A. (McCann) Nolan, 95, died Thursday, April 3, 2014. She is now reunited with the love of her life, her husband for 35 years Thomas F. Nolan, Jr. who predeceased her in 1981.Born and educated in Albany she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Francis (Cunningham) McCann. Margaret spent many active and happy years with local theatre groups including Albany Civic Theatre (ACT), The Knights of Columbus theatre group and the TEDS (the Tuesday Evening Dramatic Society, or the Thursday Evening Drinking Society). Margaret was instrumental in creating ACT’s current location on Second Avenue in Albany. Maggie the actress had a leading role in Come Back Little Sheba and supporting roles in Cabaret, Ah Wilderness, The Pajama Game and more than 30 other productions. She also did most everything else in the theatre including janitorial, hospitality, transporting sets to various locations, basically anything that needed to be done.
Margaret and her late friends Barry Scott and Nick Toscino arranged for many trips both to New York City for various plays and also trips to Europe and the Caribbean.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Frances M. and Dr. John F. Filippone.
Survivors include her son Thomas “Tim” F. Nolan, III and his wife Frances of Rancho Mirage, CA; grandson Thomas “Thom” F. Nolan, IV of Albany; sisters-in- law, Delores (the late Carl) Nolan Stuart and Helen (the late Ed) Nolan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews on both the Nolan and Filippone sides.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 8:45a.m. from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home 490 Delaware Avenue thence to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 391 Delaware Ave. Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Friday, April 11, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 would be appreciated.
