ALBANY- Maureen P. (O’Connor) O’Connell, 79, entered Eternal Rest on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany to William and Elizabeth (Meehan) O’Connor, she graduated from Vincentian Institute and the College of St. Rose. She earned her Master’s degree in Public Health from Sage College of Albany and continued her career in nursing. Maureen was Nurse Manager of the Cardiac Care Unit at St. Peter’s Hospital for many years. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Hospital Ethics Committee where she remained after her retirement. Maureen was an avid bridge player, gardener, and active member of the City Club of Albany. She was a longtime Communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Marilyn Evans and brother William J. O’Connor. She is survived by her children Daniel (Amy) O’Connell, Elizabeth O’Connell, Kathleen (Michael) Lyons, Patricia (Gregory) McGee, Mary Ellen O’Connell (Deborah Reese), John (Ingrid) O’Connell, Anne O’Connell, and Timothy (Sasha) O’Connell; her siblings Elizabeth (late Raymond) Linzey, Rev. Francis O’Connor, and Anne Gardner; brother-in-law John Evans, sister-in-law Margaret O’Connor; her grandchildren Daniel and Meredith O’Connell, Michael (fiancée Kathryn Martel), and William Lyons, Jack, Brendan and Madeline McGee, and Maya O’Connell; also many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Albany.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by her brother, Rev. Francis O’Connor on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 9:00 am in St. Vincent de Paul Church. Interment will be held privately.
