ALBANY- Helen A. (Ryan) Pasquini, 98, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in her home at the Teresian House. Helen was born in Albany to James and Anna (Petroske) Ryan, and was a graduate of Vincentian Institute Class of 1935.Helen married the love of her life, Attil “Til” A. Pasquini on June 1, 1938 in St. Mary’s Church.She lived in Albany all of her life, except during WWII, when she lived the life of a military officer’s wife in Colorado and Oklahoma.She was a longtime parishioner of St. James Church, now known as St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Helen was a member of several church groups and for decades was the go-to lady for Mass cards.Prior to the Teresian House, Helen lived at the McAuley Residence and before that, she resided for 13 years at St. Sophia’s senior housing where she loved her friends, and they in turn truly loved her.
Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Attil “Til” A. Pasquini in 1999, her brother James F. Ryan in 1979 and her sister Marian R. Foster in 2008.
A devoted mother, Helen is survived by her 11 children Katherine (the late Robert) Faas, John (Susan), Attil “Bud” (the late Nancy)., Margaret (James) Devey, Mary (Michael) Otis, Helen (Francis) Nolan, James (Donna), Robert (Eileen), Jean (William) Bulman, Eleanor (Donald) Malott and Paul (Jennifer). Helen is grandmother to 32, great-grandmother to 36, and great-great-grandmother to 5. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Helen was a generous person who lived her whole life believing that sharing with others makes for a happy and whole existence. She had a big heart and would give whatever she could to those in need.Helen was a great and loving mother.She worked hard raising her children and was always cheerful and accepting of their friends. She had an open door and open heart policy. Helen loved her children’s spouses and made them a welcomed part of the family.She considered each grand, great and great-great grandchild a blessing and truly loved them all. Helen will be remembered as a woman who thought of others before herself and who still had more to give. She lit up the lives of those around her with her smile, kind words, boundless energy and spirit. Helen made the world a better place.
The family would like to thank the staff on the 3rd floor B-wing at the Teresian House for the care and kindnesses extended to Helen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 8:45 a.m. from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., thence to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 391 Delaware Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Friday, February 5, 2016 from from 4 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
