Albany

ALBANY - Patricia A. Boyd, 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 18, 2026 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. She was born in Albany on May 9, 1928 to the late Daniel C. and Anna C. Blum Lawlor. Patricia was a larger than life personality and lit up the rooms of every household she entered. She enjoyed homemaking, baking, sewing and spent countless weekends with her husband Douglas fishing and playing cards in the remote ponds of the Adirondacks. She also worked many years as a clerk in the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. She was a member of the North Albany American Legion Post 1610 Auxiliary for 23 years and a member of the North Albany Limericks for 27 years.

From her earliest years, Patricia earned a reputation as a tomboy who could hold her own with anyone who challenged her. As a young girl in Albany, she was once hit by an automobile and dragged two city blocks before the driver realized he had a passenger. She proudly told her mother she didn’t lose the change she held in her hand from the shopping errand she had been sent on.

Whether it was a family gathering, a trip to the doctor’s office or a weekly outing to a supermarket, Patrica felt it was her responsibility to entertain everyone she encountered.
She could tell stories, share a good joke and leave everyone she met with a smile on their face. She was never afraid to share her opinion on any subject and she had a lot of them. Feisty was her middle name.

Patricia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Douglas T. Boyd, in 1998. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Ann VanAmburgh, Mary J. Maguire, and Daniel C. Lawlor. While she had no children of her own, she lived next door to and enjoyed spending time and helping to raise many of her nieces and nephews.

Patricia’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Bill Freeman, who not only looked after her needs and provided support to her over a period of many years, but became one of her dearest friends. The family also wants to express their appreciation to Colleen Yund, who went out of her way to make sure Patrica had a comfortable, safe and stable home environment for decades.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday July 22nd from 10am to 12pm at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany, followed by a funeral service at 12pm. She will then be interred in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: The Community Hospice Foundation, 310 South Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208.
