ALBANY- William P. Pelton, 78, died peacefully, Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family .Born in Albany, he was son of the late Peter and Anna (Furlong) Pelton and was a graduate of the former St. John’s Academy in Albany. Mr. Pelton was a Veteran of the US Army. He worked in the office at the former Schaefer Brewing Company and later in sales and customer service for various paper companies. He retired in 1995.
Mr. Pelton was a Communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi. He was an avid fan of horseracing, the NY Giants, NY Yankees and college basketball. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed cooking dinner for them every Sunday and holiday.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Theresa Joyce (Klein) Pelton; children, Kelly (Steve) Ryan of E. Greenbush, Steven Pelton of NYC, Kristin (Frank) Sager of E. Greenbush and Lisa (Dave Derry) Pelton of Albany; grandchildren, Joe and Lauren Ryan; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Jack (Mary) Pelton.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 at 8:45 a.m. from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. thence to The Parish of Mater Christi, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
