Penzabene, Diana M.

ALBANY- Diana M. (Sanchez) Penzabene, 83, entered Eternal rest Monday, January 30, 2017 at Albany Medical Center.Born and educated in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Jane McNally and Edward Sanchez. She was a longtime Communicant of St. James Church, and a homemaker. Diana was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.In addition to raising her own family, she baby-sat and cared for many children and was affectionately known as “Mama Diane”.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years Joseph A. Penzabene and her siblings Dolores Danz her twin, Joan Lee, Thomas and Joseph Sanchez.She is survived by her children Toni (Michael) Penzabene-Wagner, Jennifer (Dennis) Commerford, Frank (Amy) Penzabene, Lori (Dwight) LaDu, Joanne (Ron) Peter, Carmella (Rusty) Axtmann, Joseph (Kim) Penzabene, and Vincent Penzabene; her brother Ralph Sanchez; her 17 adoring grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to her dear niece Christine Saleh, her granddaughter Jodi O’Connor, and Laura Washington, her loving caregiver. Also to the staff at Albany Medical Center for their care and compassion and to the Fesenius Kidney Center for all their thoughtfulness and care.

Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with her family Friday, February 3, 2017 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 12 noon in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Ave. Albany. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
