Born in Troy, New York on May 23, 1933, Phil was the second of three children born t o Philip Maron Sr. and Veronica (Vera) Pendergast Maron. Phil was a talented all around athlete from an early age, especially with regards t o baseball. After High School, Phil was recruited to attend Spring Training for the Brooklyn Dodgers in Vero Beach, Florida, where he played with baseball legends Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella and Johnny Padres. Upon completion of his minor league career, Phil enlisted in the U.S. Airforce, where he served active duty in Korea from 1953 to 1957. After returning from Korea Phil married his high school sweetheart, Patricia. Their beautiful love story lasted for 70 years, until Patricia's passing in 2021.

Phil was always a hard worker. He formed his own property management company, Maron Inspections, which grew with the partnership of his son Mark.
After Pat's retirement in 1995, Phil semi-retired from the business, turning the reins over to Mark in order to enjoy his golden years at their Lake George Condo. An avid swimmer and nature lover, Phil enjoyed many summers there with Pat, his children, grandchildren and beloved Bichon Lilly.
Phil was a huge baseball fan, particularly of the Boston Red Sox, and was an encyclopedia of all things baseball related. His sense of fun, humorous demeanor and kindness drew people to him always. He was one of a kind, and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children; Phil L. Maron, Helana Saunders (Mitchell) and Mark Maron. His grandchildren; Miles Saunders (Magdalena) and Miranda Saunders. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Pauline Bartlett (Robert) and Connie Owens (Peter).
