ALBANY- Charles F. Rafferty, Sr.86, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Zinzow) Rafferty and graduated from Our Lady Help of Christians School. Mr. Rafferty was a Korean War Army Veteran. He worked for 40 years in the lumber industry retiring as senior dispatcher with Paulson Lumber Co. He was a communicant of All Saints Catholic Church and member of the Guilderland Elks and VFW Post.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan (Grady) Rafferty; Children Charles F. (Michelle), Jr aka ChaChie, Michael (Robin), Mary Beth, Stephen (Susan), Peter (Christie), Maureen, Christopher (Rose) and Daniel (Kristine); his brother William and sister Doris Valerio; 25 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 12 siblings.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 20, 2015 at 9:00 am in All Saints Catholic Church (Homestead St at Western Ave. behind CVS). Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 3-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
