ALBANY- Mary (Turley) Reith, 96, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. Born in New York City she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Cartin) Turley. She settled with her family on Barrows Street in 1957 and lived there until moving to her daughter’s home in 2011.
Mrs. Reith retired from the NYS Office of the Comptroller as a Senior Clerk. She was a longtime Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish (formerly St. James Church). She was an active volunteer at the Church food pantry and member of a weekly prayer group. Mrs. Reith enjoyed traveling, bowling and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Reith in 2006; her daughter, Maureen Reith; and siblings, Katherine McAllister, Bernard Turley, Joseph Turley and Margaret Pearce. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Jim) Kowalski of Latham and Veronica (Tom) Ferritto of Loudonville; her son, John F. Reith of Albany; four grandchildren, Lauryn and Paul Kowalski, Mark and Sarah Ferritto; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with her family at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 at 9:15 a.m.from the funeral home thence to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 391 Delaware Ave., where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
