ALBANY- Edna A. (Remancus) Rinaldi, 103, went home to the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Edna, one of nine children was born in Hoosick Falls, NY to Stephen and Margaret Remancus. She attended St. Mary’s school there until moving to Troy and working at St. Joseph’s Infant Home.On Dec 12, 1942, she married Ambrose Rinaldi. Having no children, she baby sat for family members and friends. A fantastic swimmer, she taught many children, including her nieces how to swim.In 1962, Edna was sworn in by the Albany Police Department as a school crossing guard until retiring in 2012. She was proud to be in full uniform, everyday keeping ‘”her” children safe. Edna had a surprise 100 birthday party at the Century House surrounded by family, Fr. Tony Childs, and her special friend Michael Pastore.
Edna is survived by one brother Albert Remancus; sister-in-law Mary Z. Remancus; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses Stanley Remancus, John (Lucille) Remancus, Alice (Tom) Pomiber, Eva (Frank) Poloski, Theresa (Vincent “Doc” ) Rinaldi, Nell (Edward) Schuh and Florence (Douglas) Ogilvie; two sisters-in-law Phyllis Rinaldi and Mary Remancus.
Neices Gail Novak and Anita Knorowski and their families are grateful to the fourth floor staff at the Teresian House for the care and attention given to their aunt.They are especially thankful to Margaret Vella for her compassion and kindness and to Michael Pastore, a special thank you for being there for Edna.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. 490 Delaware Ave. prior to her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 900 Madison Ave. Entombment will follow the Mass in the mausoleum of St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
The family requests no flowers and asks that you extend to someone a simple act of kindness in memory of Edna.
