Robert J. Bouchey Jr.

ALBANY- Robert (Bob) J. Bouchey Jr., age 57, passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2026.
Born in Albany, Bob was the son of the late Robert (Tony) J. Bouchey Sr. and Mary Jane (Battaglia) Bouchey. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Alyssa. Bob graduated from Bishop Maginn High School in Albany. For many years, he worked as a project manager for Blue Cross Blue Shield and MetLife. Later in life, he worked for the Albany County Board of Elections as an equipment technician and IATSE Local 14 as a stagehand, until he became disabled in 2024.

Bob had a fondness for football, baseball, and basketball, especially the point spread. He was the head coach for his son’s basketball team for many years. He was an avid fan of the Raiders, Mets, and Knicks, oftentimes enjoying the games with his son or his many friends at the Ye Olde Tavern Sports Bar, a place where he affectionately considered himself to be a “lifetime member”.

Whether on the bowling lanes at Del Lanes or the golf course at Pheasant Hollow, Bob found joy in friendly competition and treasured the many friendships formed along the way. Though Bob has played his last round, those who knew and loved him take comfort in imagining him somewhere enjoying perfect weather, endless strikes, impossible birdies, and a sports book where every pick is a winner.

Above all, Bob loved being surrounded by family and friends. His goal in life was to bring joy and laughter to every situation that he was in; he always lived life to the fullest with no regrets. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and ability to bring people together, and his stories, laughter, and friendship will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his son, Robert J. Bouchey III (Renee), one grandson, Robert James IV (RJ), his sisters Justine Contakos (Chris) and Kim Carr (Kevin), nieces Marisa Southern (Ben), Danielle Carr, and Mary Jane Contakos, an Aunt, an Uncle, several cousins, and so many lifelong friends, too abundant to name.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish 391 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY 12209, with a funeral Mass to follow at 12 noon.
