ALBANY- Giuseppe Scarlassare, 85, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at his home. Born and educated in Marano Vincentino, Italy he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria M. (Quartiero) Scarlassare . Mr. Scarlassare was a member of the Italian Alpini, elite mountain warfare soldiers, of the Italian Army. He was trained as a machinist and worked and lived in Italy, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland before coming to the United States in 1973. He worked for Albany Machine in Menands and for the NYS Office of General Services, retiring in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Margherita (DeLuise) Scarlassare; a daughter, Maria M. Scarlassare of Albany; a son, Francesco Scarlassare of Albany; a granddaughter, Francesca Archina; a brother, Ettore Scarlassare; four sisters, Angela, Teresa, Marisa and Ermenegilda Scarlassare; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Giuseppe and Nancy DeLuise of Albany; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Francesco Scarlassare and his sister, Valentina Scarlassare.
Funeral services will be held 8:45 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany thence to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Ave. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Friday, September 12, 2014from 4 to 7 pm. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
