Sheehan, William A. D.D.S.

ALBANY-William A. Sheehan, D.D.S., 98, died Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Glens Falls he was the son of the late William A. and Julia (O’Keeffe) Sheehan. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Glens Falls. Dr. Sheehan attended Niagara University and was a 1939 graduate of the School of Dentistry of the University of Pennsylvania. He interned at Valhalla Hospital. Dr. Sheehan was an Army veteran of WWII having served as captain with the 33rd Hospital Unit in North Africa and the 135th Infantry in Italy where he also served as head of the regimental dental aid station.

After returning from the war in 1946, he opened a dental office on Lancaster Street where he practiced until his retirement in 1982.

Dr. Sheehan was a member of the American Legion, the 3rd District Dental Society and a Communicant of Historic St. Mary’s Church in Albany. He also served on the Capitol Hill Architectural Review Commission from August 1977 to May 1988.

Beloved husband of Mary (Trzaskos) Sheehan; father of Mary Kathleen Roden-Tice (Steve Tice) of Plattsburgh, NY; grandfather of Christopher J. Roden of Delmar, NY and Katherine M. Roden of Branford, Connecticut; brother of the late Helen S. Topping and Elizabeth A. Sheehan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Historic St. Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill, Albany, NY. There will be no public calling hours. Private interment will be in the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, So. Glens Falls, NY
