Smith, Frank E. Jr.

DELMAR- Frank E. Smith, Jr., 66, passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 after a 10 year illness. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Northport, NY for over 50 years and moved to Delmar, NY in 2007 to be nearer to family. Frank was a graduate of Northport High School and Suffolk County Community College. He was a Vietnam veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968. Until the tragic early onset of Alzheimer’s disease, he was a self-employed general contractor.

Frank leaves behind a large circle of close friends from Northport; a brother, Ted (Nancy) of Delmar; a nephew, Peter (Traci) and a niece, Katherine.

Frank’s family wishes to thank all the caretakers at Delmar Place, Hawthorne Ridge, the Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center and the Blue Team at the Stratton VA Medical Center all of whom provided the best of personal care to Frank during his illness and decline.

His ashes will be interred later this spring at Calverton National Cemetery.
