Smith, George O.

MENANDS- George O. Smith 65, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Cohoes and educated in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Oliver and Mabel (Graves) Smith.George worked for 39 years as groundskeeper at Albany Rural Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Mary (Belden) Smith; children, Thomas Currier (Dawn Raciti), Jason Smith (Mindy), and Kristen Smith; his sisters Doris “Pete” Honsinger (late Edward Sr.), Gloria “Cissy” Quintel (late Raymond) and Valerie Vandenburgh. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Albany Rural Cemetery, Cemetery Ave., Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with the family at the Cemetery Chapel on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 6-8 pm.
