ALBANY- Ernest Sohotra, 69, died suddenly Saturday, June 11, 2016. Born in Pakistan he was the beloved son of the late Emmanuel and Dorothy (Mall) Sohotra. Mr. Sohotra was educated at the Polytechnic Institute in Lahore, Pakistan where he later taught. He came to the United States in 1969 and continued his education in Pittsburgh, PA. He worked as an engineer at Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh and later joined family in Albany where he was employed by the Federal Government working on projects on Broadway in Albany and in Syracuse, NY. His engineering career continued with the State of New York until his retirement in 2009.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Veena P. (Rawani) Sohotra; much loved children, Daniel Sohotra, Myra (King Chin-Yellu) Sohotra, Leah (Hassan) Sohotra and Sharoon (Romana) Alam; cherished grandchildren, Darren Sohotra, Necho and Nehushta Chin-Yellu, Yossef and Majda Ridouane and Luke Alam; loving siblings Mavis (John) Sohotra Caggianelli, Joyce Sohotra, Kenneth (Cathy) Sohotra and the late Phyllis Sohotra-Ferri; nephews Jordan and Zachary Sohotra. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Louis Ferri, and loved by countless cousins, extended family and friends, whose lives he impacted tremendously.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family Friday, June 17, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Clearview Christian & Missionary alliance Church, 275 Schodack Drive, Castleton, NY 12033. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Reformed Church Cemetery, 33 Church Road, Hudson, NY 12534
