ALBANY- Maureen A "Reen" (Legler) Straney, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2015 surrounded by her family at Albany Medical Center. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Louis R. and Louise H. (McCall) Legler. Maureen was a graduate of Vincentian Institute and the Albany Medical School of Radiology. She worked as an x-ray technician in the office of Dr. Thomas Murnane, in Delmar, until her retirement.
Reen was the pillar of her family-she was a loving, supportive, and caring mother with a Heart of Gold. She had a wonderful, witty sense of humor, coupled with a pragmatic approach to life. She was always there for everyone. Willing to lend advice or just to listen as a loyal and trusted confidant to friends and family alike. Words cannot adequately describe how much she will be missed by all who loved her.
Reen is the wife of William J. “Bill” Straney; beloved mother of Caillin Furnari, Sherron Winkler and Sean (Tara) Straney; cherished grandmother of Alexandria Furnari; sister of Dawn (John) Murley and the late Robert J. (late Barbara) Legler. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:30 am Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Convent of Mercy Chapel, 634 New Scotland Ave., Albany. Please join the family for a reception immediately following.
Those who wish may send contributions in memory of Maureen to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
