ALBANY-Frank Taormina, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, April 11, 2016 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born and educated in Giardini, Sicily he was the son of the late Matteo and Nunziata (Micalizi) Taormina. Frank came to the United States in 1951 and settled in Ravena. He was a bricklayer with the Bricklayers Union # 2 for many years, retiring in 1984. He was currently the oldest living member of the Union.
Frank was currently a communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi and previously attended St. Patrick’s Church in Ravena.
Frank was a craftsman, having built his own house and the ultimate handyman, able to fix anything. He loved to draw and enjoyed music and the opera.
Survivors include his wife, Concetta (Siligato) Taormina; children, Matthew (Donna) Taormina of Earlton and Nancy (Parker Race) Taormina of Albany; six grandchildren, Regina, Conchetta, Matthew, Nicolette, Bryant and Serafina; six great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Delaney, Gabrielle, Lillianna, Samuel and Annabelle; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8:15 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany thence to the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell Street, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m .Entombment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Ravena,
