ALBANY-Nicholas V. Tateo, 76, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born and educated in Albany he was the son of the late Nicholas J. and Ida (Fabozzi) Tateo. Nick was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from CDTA as a bus driver after 35 years of service. He was a Communicant of the former St. Teresa of Avila Church and a member of the Watervliet Elks. Nick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He enjoyed traveling, casinos and spending winters in Arizona. He was well loved by those who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joan A. (Cunningham) Tateo. He is the father of Maria Louise Tateo of Baltimore, MD., Jack Tateo (Kathy) of Delmar, Nicholas Tateo (Virginia) of Phoenix, AZ, Ann Hanley (Rob Patterson) of Glenmont and the late Eileen Tateo-Beebe; father-in-law of Richard Beebe of Middlebury, CT; grandfather of Jim Tateo (Lindsay) of Mansfield, MA, Kristie Tateo of Delmar, Robby Tateo of Delmar, Kristen Hanley of Glenmont, Ryan Hanley of Glenmont, Meghan Beebe of Middlebury, CT, Olivia Barron, Michelle Barron and Michael Barron all of Arizona; great-grandfather of Reyna, Andres, Audrey, Dominick and Noah all of Arizona; brother of Esther Doin of Lansingburgh, William Tateo of Knoxville, TN, Delores Lindell of Sarasota, FL and the late Ann Hallahan; brother-in-law of Kay and Joe Cacciola of Lenox, MA., Barbara Cunningham and Maureen Cunningham both of Albany. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and special friends, Rosanna Comuglia, Joe Michela, Nancy Boulette and Orie.

Funeral services will be held 9:15 am Thursday, February 18, 2010 from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany thence to Mater Christi Parish (formerly St. Catherine of Siena Church), 40 Hopewell St., Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 4 to 8 pm. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
