DELMAR- Charlotte L. (Prophet) Tougher, 93, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Pond Eddy, NY, she was the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Hobbs) Prophet. Wife of the late Stanley Hunter Tougher; Mother of Dorothy (Vincent) Williams and S. Wayne (Katherine) Tougher; Grandmother of Bonnie (Richard) Mason, MaryBeth Howe and the late Renee (Michael) DiCarlo; Great-grandmother of Michelle (Daniel) Brantley; Victoria Sims, Ryan LaTant; Sister of the late Florence Marshall and Robert Prophet; Aunt of Sharon Barringer, Patricia Butts, Laura (Richard) Lashley, Karen (Dana) Tindall, Suzanne Teegarden, Michael and Allen (Gloria) Prophet; also survived by many other nieces and nephews.

Charlotte and Stanley lived in Glenmont since the early 1940’s. Together they owned and operated Tougher Automatic Heating. Charlotte also worked at Farm Family Insurance Co. and retired from Security Supply in Selkirk.Over the years she was a member of numerous women’s organizations.

Charlotte was a founding member of the Glenmont Community Church and served in many capacities.She enjoyed making gifts for friends and family, especially crocheting for the church mitten tree.She enjoyed hosting the bible study group at the VanAllen Apartments,and the friendship of the Lunch Bunch. Charlotte enjoyed participating in the annual craft fair and weekly bingo games at Kenwood Manor.Many nickels were won and lost!

A special thanks to the caring staff at Kenwood Manor and St. Peter’s Hospital from Charlotte’s family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Glenmont Community Church, 1 Chapel Lane, Glenmont, NY 12077. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.A luncheon will be served following the service.

A private interment will be at the Albany Rural Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Charlotte’s family requests donations be made to the Glenmont Community Church in Charlotte’s memory.
