Upton, Marion A.

ALBANY- Marion A. Upton, 75, died December 8, 2015 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. Born in Albany, NY she is predeceased by her parents Edward and Jeanette (Landeau) Koonz, her sister Kathleen Williams and her granddaughter, Reagan Spencer.

Marion was a resident of Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home for the past fourteen years. She was no different there than anywhere else she lived – taking charge and caring for others. Prior to the nursing center, Marion enjoyed working at Lodges Clothing Store on S. Pearl Street in Albany where she made many friends and was treated as family. Marion was a Navy wife and lived on both the East and West Coast raising her family.

Marion is survived by her four daughters, Elena Corbin of Gordonsville, VA, Tammy (Mark) Farrell of Virginia Beach, VA, Lynn (Tom) Sykes of Hampton, VA, and Michele (Tom) Deuel of S. Bethlehem, NY and her brother Frank (Cheryl) Koonz of Rensselaer, NY, Marion was blessed with ten grandchildren, Nicole Spencer, Kimberly Brown, Buddy Spencer, Justin Upton, Brandon Upton, Melissa Doughtie, Lee Doughtie, Amber Sykes, Laura Doughtie, Megan Rutherford.

Her legacy continued with the blessings of eight great-grandchildren, Elijah Upton, Natalie Spencer, Aiden Ramsey, Ava Brown, Kiersten O’Connor, Hannah Stratton, Emery Brown and Aubree Lindstrom.

Marion continues to be thought of and loved by many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Marion will be truly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Daughters of Sarah for the wonderful care of our mother over the past years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 9:30 am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.

Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with her family Friday, December 11, 2015 from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
