ALBANY- Velma A. DiBiase (Calabrese), age 95, passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones on April 26, 2025, at Teresian House Center for the Elderly. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna DiBiase. She was a faithful servant of the lord, devoted wife and loving mother and family was most important to her. She enjoyed gardening, golfing with her husband, traveling to the beach with family and friends, spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren and was passionate about cooking. She found joy in bringing people together and was the happiest when her family was gathered around the table at her home. She was a beautician for many years and owned her own business. Velma’s faith gave her the strength and will to care for others and she always kept her loved ones in her daily prayers.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Calabrese, son, Gene Calabrese, son in law, David Stack, and siblings, Ben and Nick DiBiase, Mary Fresina and Brenda D’Antonio.
She is survived by her daughter Catherine Stack, son Michael (Mia) Calabrese, grandchildren Nicole (Nick) DeCelle, Darcy (Anthony) Battuello, Deanna (Steve) Wunsch, Giana, Mitchell and Sophia Calabrese, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 10:30 am at Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. Albany, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit at the Church prior to the mass from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Inurnment, Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, NY.
