Wagner, John J.

John J. Wagner, 85, died February 5, 2015 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness.He was born in Albany, the son of the late John G. and Margaret Wagner.John was the owner of the Waldorf Tuxedo Co. and actively involved in creating the Lark Street Merchants Association and with a few others founded Larkfest.

He served on the Capital Hill Architectural Commission, City of Albany Trolley Committee, Serve-Albany Day Committee, Tricentennial Committee and was a board member of Park Playhouse, Police Athletic League and the Historic Resources Commission.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, children, Elizabeth (Mark) DeRusso, Mark (Kari) Wagner, Matthew (Natalie) Wagner, Susan (Michael) Gleason and grandchildren Raymond and Christine Selke, Hannah, Jack, Samantha and Kathryn Wagner and Quinn Gleason. He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Crumitie Rd. Loudonville. Relatives and friends may call at the Church on Monday, February 9, from 3-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send donations to American Diabetes Foundation, Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 2, Suite 204, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205. Private burial to take place in the spring.
