DELMAR - William James Marohn III, age 77, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Friday July 24, 2026 at St. Peter’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with a long illness.
William “Bill” was born on December 2, 1948, in Albany, New York, to William Marohn and Eugenia “Jean” Marohn (Morris). He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Albany and Siena College in Loudonville. He proudly carried on the family legacy as owner of Albany Wire Works on Delaware Ave. in Albany, a multi-generational business that served the community for decades under his dedicated leadership.
He was deeply involved with the Rensselaer County ARC, where he was devoted to working for many years with 2 of his favorite people, David Frazer, who sadly passed away in 2015 and Rich DeVoe, Bill’s “sidekick” for the last decade. Bill was an avid tennis player and loved to play basketball. He had a wry sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories with his friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ellen Marohn (Lawrence), and his daughter, Meghan Marohn. He is survived by his sons, Peter Naple (Eileen), William Marohn (Nicole), and Michael Marohn (Sara); his daughter, Amy Naple; his grandchildren, McKayla, Austin, Fitz, and Harper; his brother, Jack Marohn (Donna); and many other loving nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was also predeceased by his sister, Gail Foster (Bob).
