ALBANY- James M. Woolsey, Jr. passed away at the age of 92 on September 19, 2016.
Born in Albany he graduated from St. Anne's Academy and Christian Brothers Academy. He attended Siena College, the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, and graduated from Holy Cross College in 1948. He graduated from Albany Law School, was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1954, and practiced law in Albany for over 57 years. He was a member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He was a founder and past President of the Capital District Trial Lawyers Association and received their Dan Mahoney Memorial Award in recognition of outstanding trial lawyer. In addition to residing in Albany, he also spent his most enjoyable times with family and friends at his camp on Upper Saranac Lake, where he enjoyed fishing.
He was predeceased by his father James M. Woolsey, Sr. and his mother Margaret (Cramer) Woolsey. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Audrey (Finlayson) Woolsey and his sons, James III and John and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany. The funeral service will be celebrated Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany with Rev. Kenneth J. Doyle officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 481 Route 9W, Glenmont.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in James' memory to St. Catherine's Center for Children, 40 North Main Avenue, Albany, N.Y. 12203.
